President Cavaco Silva sent condolences to the Family of composer Emmanuel Nunes

The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of composer Emmanuel Nunes.

Following is the text of the message of condolences from President Cavaco Silva:

“It was with deep regret that I learnt the news of the passing away of composer Emmanuel Nunes, one of the consecrated names in the field of vanguard music, in Portugal as well as in Europe.

Holder of rare creativity, his work has for long been internationally recognized, due to its rigour and boldness in innovation, which made him one of the great followers of the 20th century artistic revolution.

In this moment of mourning for Portuguese culture, I want to pay my sincere tribute to Emmanuel Nunes and convey my deepest condolences to the members of his Family and to his friends.

Aníbal Cavaco Silva”
