The President of the Republic addressed a congratulatory message to the Porto Football Club, winner of the European Football League.
Following is the text of the congratulatory message addressed by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:
"On this occasion when the Porto Football Club is declared winner of the European Football League, I want to congratulate its officers, staff, technical team and players for the success reached in this European competition, an outstanding event in the history of sports in Portugal.
This victory dignifies Portuguese football and honours National Sports and is, at the same time, a motive of pride for all sportsmen and adepts in general.
This title, as well as the participation of Braga Sporting Club in the Dublin final, greatly values the practice of sports in Portugal and is an encouragement for all Portuguese sportsmen, equally contributing towards the international projection of our Country.
