President of the Republic addressed condolences to the Family of Commander Azevedo Soares

The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of Commander Eduardo Azevedo Soares.

Following is the text of the message of condolences addressed by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:

"Upon being advised of the passing away of Commander Eduardo Azevedo Soares, I address to the bereaved Family my very deepest feelings of grief.

A former member of Parliament and of Government, he was an individuality that marked Portuguese public life with great personal dignity, a result of his character and personal and civic integrity..

Greatly respected for his deep dedication to the public cause, Commander Eduardo Azevedo Soares bequeathed us an example and a memory that will last forever with those who were his friends and acquaintances.

Aníbal Cavaco Silva"
