President Cavaco Silva congratulates Media Capital and TVI for the first Emmy awarded to a Portuguese soap Opera

The President of the Republic addressed a message of congratulations to Media Capital and to TVI for the first Emmy awarded to a Portuguese soap opera.

Following is the text of the message sent by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:

"Having been advised that the “My Love” Soap Opera, transmitted by TVI, had been distinguished with the Emmy for the Best International Soap Opera, I want, on behalf of all the Portuguese and in my own personal name, to congratulate its author, António Barreira, the cast and all the directing and production team for this award that brings so much honour to Portuguese televised fiction.

Since this is the first Emmy awarded to a Portuguese work, I am certain that this prize is the due recognition of the work that, throughout many years, has been carried out by hundreds of professional people involved in national television production and will be an encouragement to all those that dedicate their careers to this sector of activity.

Please accept my congratulations and my best wishes for your personal well being and professional progress.

Aníbal Cavaco Silva"
