On the occasion of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Ghana, an extraordinarily significant date for the whole of the continent of Africa and for the relations between peoples, I am very pleased to address Your Excellency, on behalf of the Portuguese People and in my own name, my warmest congratulations, together with wishes for the progress and prosperity of the People of Ghana.
Joined by strong historical links of friendship and cooperation, our two Countries and Peoples share a relationship structured in multiple levels which, I am certain, will find new opportunities for becoming even stronger in the future. Your Excellency and the People of Ghana may be assured of my personal interest in this sense.
Renewing my sincerest congratulations and in the fond hope of our next meeting, please accept, Mr. President, the expression of my highest consideration and best personal regards.
