The President of the Republic addressed a congratulatory message to the President of the Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, upon his election to office.
Following is the text of the message addressed by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:
"Mister President
Upon the election of Your Excellency to the high office of President of the Ukraine, I am pleased to address you, on behalf of the people of Portugal and in my own personal name, our warmest congratulations and best wishes of success.
I am certain that, during Your Excellency’s mandate, the relations of friendship and cooperation between Portugal and the Ukraine will continue being strengthened, for the benefit of both our peoples.
Renewing my sincere congratulations, I beg you to accept, Mister President, my best wishes for Your Excellency’s personal well being, as well as for the progress and prosperity of the Ukrainian people.
