The President of the Republic addressed a congratulatory message to the President of the Hellenic Republic, Karolos Papoulias, upon his re-election to office.
Following is the text of the congratulatory message addressed by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:
"Mister President
On the occasion of Your Excellency’s re-election to the high office of President of the Hellenic Republic, I address you, on behalf of the People of Portugal and in my own personal name, our warmest congratulations and wishes for success.
I am certain that during Your Excellency’s new mandate, the relations of friendship and cooperation between Portugal and the Hellenic Republic will continue being strengthened, for the benefit of both our peoples.
Renewing my sincere congratulations, I beg you to accept, Mister President, my best wishes for Your Excellency’s personal well being and for the progress and prosperity of the people of Greece.
