The President of the Republic addressed a message to the Mozambican President, Armando Guebuza, on the occasion of the celebration of the National Day of Mozambique.
Following is the text of the message:
"Mister President and Dear Friend,
On the occasion of the National Day of Mozambique, I am particularly pleased to address Your Excellency, on behalf of the People of Portugal and in my own personal name, my sincere congratulations and wishes for your personal well being, as well as for the progress and prosperity of our brethren People of Mozambique.
The deep and very personal bonds of friendship and cooperation which link our two countries and peoples allow us to face the future of our relations with confidence and ambition, be it in bilateral terms or in a perspective of a greater coordination of efforts and positioning in the international scene. I allow myself to underline, in this context, the common objective to actively contribute towards the growing international assertion of CPLP and of the Portuguese language, a common heritage of all its members.
Renewing my congratulations, I beg Your Excellency to accept the expression of my highest regards and personal esteem.
Aníbal Cavaco Silva"
