Message of congratulations from the President of the Republic to film director João Salaviza, for the award received in the Cannes Festival

The President of the Republic addressed a message of congratulations to film director João Salaviza, who was awarded the Palm d’Or in the Cannes Film Festival.

Following is the text of the message:

“Having been advised that the film “Arena”, directed by you, was awarded the Palm d’Or in the category of the Best Short Film in the Cannes Festival, I wish to congratulate on your achievement which brings such honours to Portuguese cinema.

Since this is the first professional film you havre directed, I am certain that this prize will provide great encouragement for your career.

Please accept my congratulations and since wishes for you personal happiness and professional success.
