The President of the Republic sent a congratulatory message to the President elect of the Republic of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaite.
Following is the text of the message:
"On being advised of Your Excellency’s election I want to address you, on behalf of the people of Portugal and in my own personal name, our most sincere congratulations and best wishes for your success in carrying out the mandate so expressively granted you by the people of Lithuania.
I am certain that, during Your Excellency’s term of office, we will find renewed opportunities to deepen the bonds of friendship and fruitful cooperation which we currently enjoy, both bilaterally and within the scope of our common membership in the European Union, for the benefit of our Peoples.
Renewing my sincere congratulations, I beg you to accept my best wishes for Your Excellency’s personal well being as well as for the progress and prosperity of the People of Lithuania.
