The President of the Republic sent a message of condolences to the Family of sculptor António Augusto Lagoa Henriques.
Following is the text of the President’s message:
"On behalf of the people of Portugal and in my own personal name, I present heartfelt condolences to the family of sculptor António Augusto Lagoa Henriques.
Responsible for a vast work in sculpting and design, and also in poetry, Lagoa Henriques stamped generations of artists of whom he was a teacher, and was even the patron of an important change in how sculpting is taught in Portugal.
In this hour of mourning it is with great grief that I render tribute to a man who placed his talent at the service of Art and Culture, thus deserving the recognition of all Portuguese.
