President of the Republic congratulates President Nino Vieira on the legislative elections held in the Republic of Guinea-Bissau

The President of the Republic congratulated President Nino Vieira today on the peaceful and lofty civic spirit which surrounded the legislative elections recently held in Guinea-Bissau.

On the telephone e with his counterpart, President Cavaco Silva emphasized the positive assessment made of the elections by the international observation missions, especially those of CPLP and of the European Union, and underlined the importance of this electoral act for the consolidation of democracy and economic and social development of Guinea-Bissau.
