The President of the Republic sent a congratulatory message to the Portuguese athlete Naide Gomes for having won the gold medal in the long jump competition in the IAAF Indoor Athletics World Championships.
"Having been advised of your winning the gold medal in the long jump competition in the IAAF Indoor Athletics World Championships, in Valencia, I wish to congratulate you on having obtained another honourable title, in addition to all the remaining achievements in the various competitions you have taken part.
Based on your personal and sports qualifications, this achievement contributes, once more, to the value of Portuguese athletics and for the projection of athletics in Portugal.
