The President of the Republic sent a message of congratulations to director Leonor Teles who was awarded the Best Short Film Golden Bear in the Berlin International Film Festival.
Following is the text of the message from President Cavaco Silva:
“I am greatly rejoiced with the success reached by film director Leonor Teles, who was awarded today the Best Short Film Golden Bear in the Berlin International Film Festival.
In a year when the Portuguese presence in this relevant Festival has stood out very justly, both due to its size and to the recognized quality of the entries, the prize attributed to Leonor Teles confirms the talent of the young director and the represents the crowning of much effort, aiming to consolidate the prominence of film made in Portugal.
I thus congratulate Leonor Teles for this success, which greatly honours Portuguese culture, and address my best greetings to all who have committed themselves, throughout the last decades, to the assertion of our cinema.
