In the terms of item h) of article 133 of the Constitution, the President of the Republic accepted the proposal put forward by the Prime Minister to appoint the following personalities as Secretaries of State for:
Carlos Moia received in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the President of the Organizing Committee of the Lisbon International Half Marathon, Commander Carlos Moia.
The President of the Republic delivered a speech on the occasion of the presentation of the Report on the Energy Audit to the Palace of Belém.
Investiture in the Palace of Belém
The President of the Republic invested in office, in the Palace of Belém, two new members of the Government – the Ministers for Health and for Culture.
The President of the Republic accepted the proposals of the Prime Minister for the discharge of members of the Government and the appointment of new members, and set the date for their being empowered in office.
Formal Ceremony opens Judicial Year
The President of the Republic attended the formal ceremony celebrating the opening of the Judicial Year, which took place in the premises of the Supreme Court of Justice, where he delivered a speech.
New factory in Campo de Besteiros
The President of the Republic attended the inaugural ceremony of Unit 4 of LABESFAL Pharmaceutical Company, in Campo de Besteiros, Tondela.
Ceremony in the Lisbon Synagogue
The President of the Republic delivered a speech at the Remembrance Ceremony of the International Day of the Holocaust Victims which was held in the Lisbon Synagogue.

José Carlos Vasconcelos empowered
The President of the Republic empowered Dr. José Carlos Vasconcelos as a member of the Chancery of Portuguese National Honours.
