The President of the Republic requested today from the Constitutional Court the preventive supervision of the constitutionality of Articles 22, No.2, and 29, No.1, of the law approving the new organizational structure of Polícia Judiciária (Criminal Police).
Meeting with youth
The President of the Republic held a meeting, in the Palace of Belém, with approximately 30 leaders of Youth Associations to discuss the topic of civic and political participation of youths and the reasons that motivate them or keep them away from a greater involvement.

The President of the Republic signed, in the Palace of Belém, the Decree for the Ratification of the Treaty of Lisbon, and made a statement allusive to the act.
Opening of the Oriente Museum
The President of the Republic presided at the inaugural act of the Oriente Museum, which was held in the building of the Old Cold Stores of the Alcântara Docks, in Lisbon, where he delivered a speech.
Screening for hypertension and cholesterol
On the initiative of the Portuguese Cardiology Foundation, screening for hyper blood pressure and high cholesterol levels was carried out in the Palace of Belém with the staff of the Presidency of the Republic.
Arriving at the banquet
The Kings of Sweden, Carl Gustaf and Silvia, hosted, on their State Visit to Portugal, a return banquet in honour of the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva, which was held in the Lisbon hotel which was used as the official residence of the Swedish monarchs.
Banquet in the National Palace of Ajuda
The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva hosted a banquet in honour of the King and Queen of Sweden, held in the National Palace of Ajuda, at the beginning of which both President Aníbal Cavaco Silva and King Carl Gustaf delivered speeches.
In the cloisters of Jerónimos
The Kings of Sweden Carl Gustaf and Silvia, commenced a State Visit to Portugal, at the invitation of the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco SIlva. The King was awarded military honours on the grounds fronting the Jerónimos Monastery, laid a wreath on the tomb of Luís de Camões, and was shown round the cloisters of the Monastery.
President attends GNR celebrations
President Cavaco Silva attended the Commemorative Ceremonies of the 97th Anniversary of the Republican Guard, which were held in Praça do Império (Empire Square).
Meeting of the Arraiolos Group
The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohamed El Baradei, was present during the second and last day of the Informal Meeting of Heads of State within the scope of the Arraiolos Procedure, which is being held in Graz, Austria. The subject under discussion was “Questions of European Foreign and Security Policy”.
