President of the Republic visited exhibition in the Fafe House of Culture
On the second day of his tour of the Region of the Three Valleys (Ave, Sousa and Tâmega), the President of the Republic visited, in the Fafe House of Culture, the exhibition “Land Away Land Nearby – Traces of Portuguese Emigration”, organized by the Museum of the Presidency of the Republic with the support of the Fafe County Council.
President officially opens the Urban Park of Celorico de Basto
Included in the programme of a visit to Celorico de Basto, the President of the Republic officially opened the Rio Freixieiro Urban Park.
President Aníbal Cavaco Silva visited the vast area of the Park and addressed the people after having viewed the town’s Municipal Library.
Meeting with Mayors of the local counties
Commencing a visit to the Region of the Three Valleys (Ave, Sousa and Tâmega), the President of the Republic held a meeting, in Celorico de Basto, with the Mayors of the Counties of the Tâmega Valley.
In order to determine the date of the elections for the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, the President of the Republic has set, for July 22 next, the date for the audition of the Representative of the Republic in the Azores, and of the Speaker and the political parties represented in the Legislative Assembly of the Azores Autonomous Region.
Meeting in Belém with Parliamentary leaders
On the occasion of the closure of the Legislative Session, the President of the Republic received the Speaker and the Deputy Speakers of Parliament, as well as the Leaders of the Parliamentary Parties, whom he later hosted at lunch.

Audience in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the President of the Economic and Social Commission, Prof. Doctor Alfredo Bruto da Costa.
Invited by President Lech Kaczynski, the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva will visit Poland from 2 to 4 September next, travelling to Warsaw and Krakow.
Future living quarters of the Student Corps
The President of the Republic, accompanied by the Minister for National Defence and by the Chief of the Army General Staff, presided at the launching ceremony of the modernization works of the living quarters of the Student Corps.
