Arrival at Republic Square
The President of the Republic travelled to the county town of São João da Pesqueira, where he visited the historical centre in Republic Square, viewing the external and internal areas of the Almshouse Church as well as the architectural environment of the Square.
Walking through the historical centre
The President of the Republic visited the County of Penedono, starting with the recently set up Vale do Torto Olive Oil Producers Cooperative Society, viewing the product reception areas and the production and storage of olive oil.
Museum of the Deceptive Douro Region
The President of the Republic visited Tabuaço County, where children, youths and students of the Senior University awaited him in the MDU – Museum of the Deceptive Douro Region, in whose gardens a musical presentation and a book fair were taking place.
Municipal Stadium
The President of the Republic visited the County of Moimenta da Beira where, in the Parish of Peva, he inaugurated the Home for the Aged “Our Home” of the Social Solidarity Association of the village of S. Martinho.
Frank Walter Steinmeier received in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the German Minister of Foreign Affairs, Frank Walter Steinmeier.
Ceremony in Culturgest
The President of the Republic presided at the award ceremony of the 2014 Pessoa Prize, held in the Culturgest auditorium, in Lisbon, on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of this trophy.
Homage in the Coach Museum
The President of the Republic presided at a Homage Ceremony to National Sports, which he promoted, with the participation of athletes, leaders and technicians of all the diverse sports activities, as well as representatives from the sports federations and other sports leading bodies, during which several Olympic and Paralympic athletes were decorated.
The President of the Republic decorates 16 athletes and the Portuguese Olympic and Paralympic Committees in the Tribute to National Sports that he is promoting on 27 May, which will be attended by athletes, leaders and technicians of all the different sports activities.
All those decorated will be awarded grades and titles of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator.
The President of the Republic will promote, on 27 May instant, a Tribute to National Sport, with the presence of athletes, officers and technicians of all types of sports activities, both Olympic and Paralympic.
Committee received by the President
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the Organizing Committee of the National Day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities, whose members he later hosted at lunch.
