Inaugural ceremony of the Cardoso Pires Library
The President of the Republic presided at the inaugural ceremony of the José Cardoso Pires Municipal Library in Vila de Rei. The session occurred on the 10th anniversary of the passing away of the author.
Firemen’s League Conference
The President of the Republic presided at the closing Session of the 40th National Conference of the Firemen’s League, which was held in the Expocentre, in Pombal.
The President of the Republic addressed Parliament a message concerning the enactment of the legislation which alters the Juridical Regime of Divorce.
Following is the text of the President of the Republic’s message:
The President of the Republic enacted Parliamentary Decree No. 245/X, which approved, by a large majority, the new juridical regime of divorce.
In spite of this, the President of the Republic believes it essential to provide the Portuguese with the following clarification:
Visit to the factory facilities
The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva attended, in Póvoa de Santa Iria, the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the Dan Cake company, during which a visit to the industry’s facilities took place.
EPIS Association with another protocol
The President of the Republic was present at the signing of the Protocol between the Association of Entrepreneurs for Social Inclusion (EPIS) and several companies with head offices in the County of Odivelas.
Meeting in Odivelas
The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva met, in Odivelas Council Hall, the Portuguese athletes who took part in the 2008 Beijing Paralympics, after which the President opened an allusive photographic exhibition named “Bearers of Light”.
Monsenhor Alsio Rapisarda in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the Apostolic Nuncio, Monsignor Alsio Rapisarda.
Battle of Aljubarrota
President Cavaco Silva attended the inaugural ceremony of the Battle of Aljubarrota Interpretation Centre, which will be located in Campo de S. Jorge, where the battles took place in 1385.
Ansião Business Centre
The President of the Republic attended the inaugural ceremony of the Ansião Business Centre, located in the “Camporês” Entrepreneurial Park.
