Prize awarded to Carrilho da Graça
The President of the Republic attended, in the Culturgest, in Lisbon, the ceremony in which the 2008 Pessoa Prize was awarded to Arqº João Luís Carrilho da Graça.
Audience in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the newly appointed officers of the Public Prosecutor’s Magistrates Union.
At the invitation of President Aníbal Cavaco Silva, the former President of the Republic General António Ramalho Eanes will represent Portugal, on 9 May next, in the ceremony of induction into office of the new President of the Republic of South Africa.
Opening of Exhibition
Organized by the Museum of the Presidency of the Republic, jointly with the Manufactura de Tapeçarias de Portalegre (Portalegre Tapestry Manufacturers) and the Guy Fino – Museum of Portalegre Tapestry, the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva presided at the inaugural act of the Exhibition “Knots in Art – Portalegre Tapestries and Contemporary Art”, which will be open to the public in the Palace of Belém until 31 July.
Shoei Utsuda received in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the President of the Committee for the Commemorations of the 150 years of diplomatic relations between Portugal and Japan, Shoei Utsuda.
President received Executive Committee of the Project Lighthouse
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the Executive Committee of the Project Lighthouse – Delloite Think-tank, included in a number of events celebrating its 40 years of activity in Portugal.
Audience in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, a deputation from the Lisbon Naval Association.
Speech in the House of Parliament
The President of the Republic attended, in the House of Parliament, the Commemorative Ceremony of the 35th Anniversary of April 25, where he addressed a speech alluding to the attitude of the young towards the Country’s political existence.
President received the conclusions of the Project
The President of the Republic received, in audience, Dr. Francisco Pinto Balsemão, chairman of the Impresa Group, together with the editors of newspaper Expresso, Dr. Henrique Monteiro, of the magazine Visão, Dr. Pedro Camacho, and of the TV Station SIC, Dr. Alcides Vieira, as well as the director of Site aeiou, Dr. Pedro Coutinho, who presented the Project “Portugal belongs to us all”.
The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva will carry out a State Visit to Turkey, between 12 and 15 May, at the invitation of President Abdullah Gül, visiting Ankara first and following this with visits to Istanbul and Cappadocia.
