Audience in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, a delegation of CDS-PP (Social Democratic Centre – Popular Party).
The President of the Republic decided not to enact the Parliamentary decree which introduced the first alteration to Law No. 6/94, dated 7 April (State Secret).
Concerning this decision the Presidency of the Republic published the following communiqué:

Excellency,
Having received, to be enacted as organic legislation, Parliamentary Decree No. 292/X, which introduces the first alteration to Law No. 6/94, dated 7 April (State Secret), and regulates the access of Parliament to documents and information classified as State secrets, I have decided, in the terms of article No. 136 of the Constitution, not to enact that bill, based on the following premises:
Empowerment ceremony
The President of the Republic empowered, in the Palace of Belém, the Minister for Economy and Innovation, Prof. Doctor Fernando Teixeira dos Santos, the Deputy Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Industry and Innovation, Prof. Doctor António José de Castro Guerra, the Secretary of State for Trade, Services and Consumer defence, Dr. Fernando Pereira Serrasqueiro and the Secretary of State for Tourism, Dr. Bernardo Luís Amador Trindade, new members of the Government.
Refurbishment of Silves Castle
The President of the Republic presided at the inaugural act of the refurbishment works carried out in Silves Castle, where he unveiled a plaque alluding to the event.
Naval Operations in Tróia and Pinheiro da Cruz
The President of the Republic carried out a visit to Navy facilities, and witnessed a demonstration of capabilities in the range of energy security, which took place in a joint training operation of the projection capacity of Naval forces.
In the terms of item h) of article no. 133 of the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic, the President of the Republic accepted the proposal of the Prime Minister to appoint Prof. Doctor Fernando Teixeira dos Santos as Minister for the economy and Innovation,
Concert in the Atlantic Pavilion
The President of the Republic attended, in the Atlantic Pavilion, Parque das Nações, the IV Concert of the Portuguese Leukaemia Association.
Ceremony in Praça do Império
The President of the Republic attended the commemorative ceremony of the Day of the Public Security Police, which was held in Praça do Império, Lisbon.
Ana Bettencourt received in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the President of the National Education Council, Dr. Ana Bettencourt.
