Statement to the media
The President of the Republic addressed a statement to the media in the Palace of Belém.
The President of the Republic will address a communiqué to the media, tomorrow, 29 September, at 20.00 hours.
President voted in Lisbon
The President of the Republic exercised his voting right in today’s Parliamentary Elections, in the Bartolomeu de Gusmão School, in Lisbon.
Presidential message
The President of the Republic addressed a message to the Portuguese concerning the Parliamentary Elections to be held on 27 September.
In response to the various queries placed to the Presidency of the Republic by the media, relative to the Visit to Portugal of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI during next year, at the invitation of His Excellency the President of the Republic, it is made clear that the contents and occasion of this announcement were agreed between the Presidency of the Republic and the Vatican through the Portuguese Embassy to the Holy See.
Presentation of Book “The Time of Life”
The President of the Republic received, in audience, Dr. Emílio Rui Vilar, Prof. João Lobo Antunes and Dr. Isabel Mota, who presented him with the book “The Time of Life”, which contains the conclusions of the Gulbenkian Health Forum on Ageing 2008-2009.
His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI will hold a visit to Portugal next year, in response to the invitation addressed by the President of the Republic.
Presentation of credentials
The President of the Republic received letters credential from new Ambassadors to Portugal.
Concert and Dinner offered to NATO members
The President of the Republic hosted a dinner, held in the National Coach Museum, in Lisbon, to the members of Military Committee of the Atlantic Alliance who are currently paying a visit to Portugal.
