General José Alberto Loureiro dos Santos received in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, General José Alberto Loureiro dos Santos.
The General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic was awarded “Special Mention” in the EDP Prize – Electrical Power and Environment 2008, for the results reached in energy efficiency in the Palace of Belém.
Following the Government’s proposal, the President of the Republic extended, as from 18 December 2009, the period of office of both the Chiefs of the Army and Air Force General Staff, respectively Generals José Luís Pinto Ramalho and Luís Evangelista Esteves de Araújo.

The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva visited the Porto Sea Life Oceanarium.
"Smiling World"
The President of the Republic closed the 3rd Campaign of his Route to Youth, dedicated to “The initiatives of Youth”, with a visit to the Association “The Smiling World”, created by young dentist surgeons who have dedicated themselves to solidarity projects.
Offer of young entrepreneurs
Continuing the 3rd Campaign of the Route to Youth, the President of the Republic visited, in Leça do Balio, the headquarters of the Hozar Group, set up a few years ago by young entrepreneurs, which manages fashion brands and nowadays employs more than 700 people, with ages averaging less than 30 years.
Première of “S. Vicente Panels”
On the occasion of the closure of the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the Serralves Foundation, the President of the Republic attended the première of the short film “S. Vicente Panels, a poetic vision”, by director Manoel de Oliveira, in the author’s presence who was celebrating his 101st anniversary.
Students with the President
As a guest of the University of Minho Academic Association, the President of the Republic attended, in Braga, the closure of the “Live Democracy” Seminar, organized by the Association, the last event of which was included in the Route to Youth, of which the third campaign is held under the topic “The initiatives of Youth”.
Route to Youth in Porto
Starting out on the 3rd Campaign of the Route to Youth, the President of the Republic presided at the inaugural act, in the Porto Historic Centre, of the Palace of Arts-Talent Factory, viewed the facilities of the old Convent of S. Domingos, held contacts with the young artists, scientists, researchers, designers and musicians present there and visited the exhibitions on show.

The President of the Republic received, in audience, the Chief of the Air Force General Staff, General Luís Evangelista Esteves de Araújo.
