Exhibition ‘Republic and Publicity’
The President of the Republic opened, in the Palace of Belém, the programme of events commemorating the Centenary of the Establishment of the Republic, which runs between 1 and 5 October, with the Palace open to the public.

The President of the Republic received the Mayors of the various Districts and Autonomous Regions of the Country, with whom he met within the scope of the events commemorating the Centenary of the Establishment of the Republic in the Palace of Belém.
Conference in Coimbra University
The President of the Republic presided, in Coimbra University, at the Opening of the International Conference “From the Virtue and Chances of the Republic to Post-National Republicanism”, during which he addressed a speech.
Regarding the audiences that the President of the Republic granted to the representatives of the political parties, the following communiqué is made public:
Audiences to political parties
The President of the Republic concluded the audiences of the political parties with seats in Parliament, with the objective of hearing their opinions as to the political, economic and social situation of the country.
Enactment of decree-law
The President of the Republic enacted the 2000th bill since the beginning of his mandate, a decree-law that determines the required measures to ensure the protection and the preservation of the marine environment.
When signing, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva issued a short statement in which he made reference to the remaining bills he had enacted since 2006.
Audiences in Belém
Aiming to hear opinions concerning the political, economic and social situation of the Country, the President of the Republic commenced receiving, in successive audiences, representatives of the political parties with seats in parliament.
Santa Maria Manuela Educational Centre
The President of the Republic presided at the inaugural act, in Gafanha da Nazaré, Ílhavo, of “Santa Maria Manuela” Educational Centre, where he visited an exhibition of drawings of the students picturing the Sea, a topic included in the several subjects of the students’ curricula.
Visit to the Port of Aveiro
The President of the Republic visited the Port of Aveiro, where he viewed an interface operation between rail and maritime transport, for which the port has the required facilities.
Historical ship refurbished
The President of the Republic visited, in the cod fisheries port of Ílhavo, the ship “Santa Maria Manuela“, whose history is linked to cod fisheries and which was recently refurbished, to be dedicated to nautical tourism and scientific research.
