Meeting of the Supreme Council for National Defence

The Supreme Council for National Defence held an ordinary meeting presided over by the President of the Republic.
At the end of the meeting, that took place in the Palace of Belém, a communiqué was read by the Secretary of the Council, General João Goulão de Melo.
Following is the text of the communiqué:
"The Council analysed the situation of the National Forces currently engaged in Peace Missions abroad, missions that have been carried out in accordance with the programming and objectives previously approved, with no special events to be recorded.
Within the scope of the competences attributed by law, the Council was informed of the situation occurring in North Africa, particularly in Libya, this having been analysed in the terms of the national defence policies."
