Cerimony at the Fort of Bom Sucesso
The President of the Republic presided at the commemorative ceremonies of the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the War in Africa, where he paid tribute to those that died in combat, placed a wreath of flowers on the Monument to the Combatant and delivered an address allusive to the occasion.
Accompanied by several civil and military bodies, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva unveiled a commemorative plaque on the external wall of the Fort of Bom Sucesso, in Lisbon, and attended a march past of a battalion representing the three branches of the Armed Forces, after which he visited a photographic exhibition depicting the War in Africa and viewed the interior of the fortress housing the Museum of the Combatant.
