Grand Master Fra’ Matthew Festing received in Belém
The President of the Republic received the Grand Master of the Sovereign and Military Order of Malta, Fra’ Matthew Festing, who is carrying out a State Visit to Portugal.
After laying a wreath of flowers on the tomb of Luís Vaz de Camões in the Jerónimos Monastery, Grand Master Fra’ Matthew Festing was received in the Palace of Belém by the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva.
On the occasion of this visit, the President of the Republic decorated the Grand Master of the Order of Malta with the Grand Collar of the Order of Sant’Iago da Espada and the Grand Master decorated President Aníbal Cavaco Silva with the Grand Collar of the Order Pro Merito Melitensis.
At the end of a working meeting, the President and the Grand Master made statements to the media, following which a luncheon was held in the Palace of Belém.
