The President of the Republic examined the Government’s proposal and revoked the reprieve granted in December
The Government presented a proposal to the President of the Republic requesting the cancellation of the reprieve granted in December 2006 to Américo Pereira Mendes.

The Government’s proposal states that the procedure for granting the reprieve was reopened following a decision of the Judge of Section 4 of the Lisbon Court for Execution of Sentences, which concluded that pre-existing facts that had not initially been taken into consideration had now been proven.

As such, the President of the Republic decided on this date to revoke Decree No. 138-R/2006, dated December 22, which granted the reprieve to Américo Pereira Mendes.
