Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Presidential palace

President Cavaco Silva welcomed by his Indian counterpart
At the start of the official programme of the State visit to India, the President of the Republic was welcomed by his Indian counterpart and host, Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam.

At a protocol ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Presidential palace, during which the national anthems of both countries were played, President Cavaco Silva reviewed the military guard of honour, received the compliments of senior Indian dignitaries and made a declaration to the journalist on bilateral relations and the aims of his visit.
