Opening of Exhibition
Organized by the Museum of the Presidency of the Republic, jointly with the Manufactura de Tapeçarias de Portalegre (Portalegre Tapestry Manufacturers) and the Guy Fino – Museum of Portalegre Tapestry, the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva presided at the inaugural act of the Exhibition “Knots in Art – Portalegre Tapestries and Contemporary Art”, which will be open to the public in the Palace of Belém until 31 July.
The exhibition has on show various tapestry works based upon works of several artists, such as Vieira da Silva; Almada Negreiros; Júlio Pomar; Júlio Resende; José de Guimarães; Carlos Botelho; Camarinha; Le Corbusier; Cargaleiro and, amongst the younger generation, Rui Moreira and Rigo.
