The art of Nadir Afonso in Chaves
The President of the Republic presided at the inaugural act, in the Chaves Municipal Library, of an exhibition of paintings by Master Nadir Afonso, on the occasion of the bicentenary celebrations of the freeing of the city, a propos of which a commemorative postal seal was issued.
Together with Mrs. Cavaco Silva, the President took a walking tour of several of the city streets until reaching the new Chaves Cultural Centre, which he officially opened and visited.
The programme of the presidential visit to Chaves was concluded with a luncheon in the quarters of the 19th Infantry Regiment, housed in the city.
