People in the streets of Chaves
The President of the Republic attended, in Chaves, the bicentenary celebrations of the freeing of the city from the second French invasion.
In addition to a military ceremony, the programme of the celebrations included the inaugural act of a monument to General Francisco Silveira and a tribute to the dead next to the Fort of São Francisco, after which President Aníbal Cavaco Silva addressed a speech.
