The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva carry out a State Visit to the Czech Republic, at the invitation of President Václav Klaus, from 14 to 16 April.

The retinue of the President of the Republic includes Members of Parliament and of the Government, as well as a relevant entrepreneurial deputation.

The programme of the visit includes meetings with the President of the Czech Republic, Václav Klaus, with the Speakers of the Chamber of Deputies and of the Senate and with the Prime Minister, Jan Fisher. The President of the Republic will also receive an official welcome in Prague City Council.

The two Heads of State will preside at the opening session of a seminar covering the promotion of economic relations between Portugal and the Czech Republic, organized by AICEP and its Czech counterparts, and which will be attended by entrepreneurs from both countries.

The President of the Republic will visit Charles University, where he will meet Czech students of Portuguese language and culture, and will open an exhibition of works by Czech artist Jirí Voves, dedicated to Fernando Pessoa.

President Cavaco Silva will end his Visit with a reception to the Portuguese community resident in the Czech Republic and to Czech individualities linked to Portugal, which will be held in the National Museum.
