Welcome to the page of the State Visit to Mozambique

Included in the programme of the President of the Republic’s State Visit to Mozambique, Mrs. Cavaco Silva visited the Josina Machel Secondary School, in Maputo, where she was a teacher in the Sixties.

Welcomed by the Officers and by representatives of the teachers, students and staff of the School, who were ranged in lines from its entrance and along the corridors, Mrs. Cavaco Silva went to the amphitheatre where she met and spoke to many of the students.

Student choirs and dance groups performed during the welcoming ceremony to the First Ladies, with Portuguese and Mozambican national standards being waved during their visit to the school facilities.

The School’s Officers offered records of documents allusive to Mrs. Cavaco Silva’s period as a teacher in the main secondary establishments of the Mozambican capital that today numbers some 8,000 students.
