Visit to the Casa dos Marcos

II Iberian American Meeting on Rare Diseases with the presence of Queen Letizia of Spain

Mrs. Cavaco Silva attended, with the Queen of Spain, D. Letizia, the closure of the II Iberian American Meeting on Rare Diseases, which was held in Moita, Setúbal, bringing together representative leaders of the ALIBER Member Countries, the alliance of the associations that are dedicated to this theme in both regions.

Prior to this, Queen Letizia had visited, also in the Casa dos Marcos – the unit of reception and shelter for children, youths and adults suffering from rare diseases and for the support of their families, having viewed its facilities and contacted the sick, staff and responsible officers.

After the visit a meeting was held with the representatives of the Iberian American Alliance for Rare Diseases.

Mrs. Cavaco Silva and Queen Letizia delivered speeches at the closure of the meeting.

Later, both Ladies witnessed the signature by Casa dos Marcos and the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Health Administration of a financing contract for the three continuous care units which are part of the reception facilities for rare diseases.

Following this Mrs. Cavaco Silva hosted luncheon in honour of the Queen of Spain.
