Exhibition in Indonesia’s capital
The President of the Republic opened, in Jakarta National Museum, an exhibition allusive to “Five Centuries of Political and Diplomatic Relations between Portugal and Indonesia”.
During the ceremony, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva decorated the former Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alwi Shihab, with the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit, and the Honorary Consul of Indonesia in Porto, Dr. Luciano Coelho da Silva, with the grade of Commander of the same Order.
On the same occasion, Ourém County Council and Larantuka municipality, in the Indonesian Island of Flowers, subscribed a twinning covenant.
The President of the Republic delivered a speech and, before the exhibition’s inaugural act, a Portuguese-Indonesian musical performance was held, featuring “fado” songstress Katia Guerreiro and the Krongong Miritsko group, from the Island of Sumatra, integrating the tradition of the Portuguese song in Indonesian music.
On the exterior of the Museum, awaiting the arrival of the President and remaining guests, were two Lusitanian horses carrying out several dressage movements, mounted by the couple Ana Luisa Valença and Mário Miguel Silva, riders who import this equestrian breed in Indonesia and provide training in horse riding, promoting the sport and equestrian art in the Country.
