The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of Professor Doctor Fernando Ramôa Ribeiro.

Following is the text of the message of President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:

“It was with great grief that I received the news of the passing away of Professor Doctor Fernando Ramôa Ribeiro, currently the Chancellor of Lisbon Technical University.

A figure of great prestige within the Portuguese scientific community, he bequeaths through his vast published works a relevant contribution in the areas in which he specialized in chemical engineering, the basis of his academic training.

His brilliant career gave rise to his work deserving international recognition.

Well known for his extraordinary human qualities, he occupied several other important offices which allowed placing his enterprising and dynamic spirit at the service of Portugal.
