The President of the Republic addressed a message of congratulations to His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of his Pontificate.

Following is the text of the message:

“Holy Father,

On the felicitous date on which the fifth anniversary of Your Holiness’ Pontificate is celebrated, I am particularly pleased to have the honour to address Your Holiness, on behalf of the People of Portugal and in my own personal name, the expression of our deepest respects.

In the fond hope of seeing Your Holiness again, very soon, I beg that you should accept my reiterated respects and my very highest regards.
