The President of the Republic addressed a message to his Angolan counterpart, José Eduardo dos Santos, concerning the African Nations Soccer Championship.

Following is the text of the President of the Republic’s message:

"Mister President and Dear Friend,

On the day when the African Nations Championship is commencing, I wish to express to Your Excellency my confidence in the complete success of this first class international sports event, of which the People of Angola are justifiably proud and well reflects the progress that the paths of peace and reconciliation allowed to be reached.

I am certain that, once again, the People of Angola, from Cabinda to the Cunene, will prove to the world their capability to overcome difficult moments, celebrating with this Tournament, through sports activities peace and understanding between Peoples.

I beg you to accept, Mister President, the expression of my highest regard and personal esteem.
