President Cavaco Silva paid tribute to the 11 September victims on a visit to New York’s Memorial Plaza

The President of the Republic visited Memorial Plaza, in New York, paying tribute to the victims of 11 September 2001, with special regard to the Portuguese and Luso-Descendants that perished in the terrorist attacks occurred on that day.

On the occasion, and in the presence of several Portuguese and Luso-Descendant citizens who took part in the save and rescue operations, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva deposited a wreath next to the “Survival Tree”, replanted there some time after the aggression.
