Meeting with President Gasparovic

Meeting between Presidents Cavaco Silva and Gasparovic

At the beginning of his State Visit to the Slovak Republic, the President of the Republic was received in an official welcoming ceremony held in Presidential Palace of Bratislava, after which he met with his Slovakian counterpart, Ivan Gasparovic.

On the occasion, the Head of the Slovakian State decorated President Aníbal Cavaco Silva with the Grand Cross of the Order of the White Cross, and received from the Portuguese President the Grand Collar of the Order of São Tiago da Espada (Sword of St. James).

After an enlarged meeting with the deputations of both countries, the two Presidents made declarations to the media concerning the discussions held, specifically with respect to the new opportunities now set up for Luso-Slovakian relations in several areas.
