Meeting with a Portuguese policeman in Newark
The President of the Republic began, in Newark, a visit to the United States, which includes the opening of an exhibition concerning Portugal, the discoveries and the convergence of diverse cultures, and will contact some of the Portuguese Communities in the North American Eastern Seaboard.
In the first stage of his journey, President Cavaco Silva visited the Portuguese Consulate in Newark, New Jersey, and then boarded the train to Washington, where the programme of the visit continues.
In Newark’s Penn Station, the President met a police agent of Portuguese nationality who is employed by one of the security forces of that North American city.
