Naval School in Alfeite

President attends Opening of School Year at the Naval School and the Closing Session of the 2008 Campaign of the Sea

The President of the Republic attended the official opening of the school year at the Naval School, a military higher education establishment.

Escorted by the Minister of National Defence, by the Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff and by Chief of the Naval Staff, the President of the Republic presided at the Ceremonial Session which, this year, coincided with the closure of the 2008 Campaign of the Sea, with “The Ocean – Wealth of Humanity” as its subject matter.

With this presence at the Naval School, in Alfeite, the President of the Republic wished to call attention to the relevance of the investment which must be made in youth, notably those that will be future naval officers, and to the indispensable linking of military higher education with civilian higher education – the university – where joint actions conferring dynamism to studies and projects are especially important.
