Symbolism and Allusion of the Pieces
- The chevron, which invokes the NCOs’ badges, is the symbol of the School where this rank is trained, a fundamental link in the structure of the Army.
- Two halberds on the blazon – “His weapon is a halberd which is also his badge” can be read in the classic popular saying which refers to the rank of Sergeant – and the “oil lamp with two flames” invoking the twofold training – basic and perfecting – which is the mission of this School.
The Meaning of the Enamels
- GOLD: the continuing effort essential to obtain knowledge;
- GREEN: the keenness of the candidate’s youth and the hope for progression in the career.
