Opening cerimony

Portuguese and Austrian Presidents at the Opening of the Salzburg Festival

Jointly with his Austrian counterpart, Heinz Fischer, the President of the Republic was the guest of honour at the Opening Ceremony of the 2009 Salzburg Festival.
The ceremony consisted in the performance of symphonic and choral music interspersed by speeches addressed by the President of the Festival, Hekga Rabl-Stadler, the Governor of Salzburg, Gabriele Burgstaller, the Austrian Minister for Education, Arts and Culture, Claudia Schmied, President Fischer and the author Daniel Kehlmann.
Later, the Governor of Salzburg and the city’s Mayor, Heinz Schaden, hosted a lunch in honour of the Portuguese and Austrian Presidents and their respective Wives, held at Hellbrun
