President Cavaco Silva met the Portuguese Community in Australia

The President of the Republic met, in Sydney, several hundred Portuguese and Portuguese descendants that live in Australia, during a dinner held in a hotel in the city.

In the last function of his Official Visit to Australia, and after having met many Portuguese in the previous stages of his journey, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva met some 500 members of the Portuguese Diaspora in Oceania which also included, in addition to residents in the several Australian states and territories, representatives of the Portuguese Community in New Zealand.

The President delivered a speech at the beginning of the encounter, which ended with performances by “fado” songstress Katia Guerreiro and by Portuguese descendant violinist Mandy Vieira.
