The President of the Republic began, in the island of Santa Maria, a visit to the Azores Autonomous Region, and addressed a message of greetings to the People of the Archipelago.

Welcomed at the island’s airport by the Representative of the Republic for the Region, Ambassador Pedro Catarino, by the President of the Regional Parliament, Dr. Francisco Coelho, and by the President of the Regional Government, Carlos César, President Anibal Cavaco Silva was also greeted by several regional and local authorities.
