The President of the Republic commenced an official visit to the Azores Autonomous Region with a greeting to all the People of the Azores upon his arrival at Lajes Air Base, in Terceira Island.

Civil and military authorities welcomed President Cavaco Silva on arrival. The President will visit the islands of Terceira, Pico, Faial and São Miguel.
