The President of the Republic held a meeting, in Barcelona, with the President of the Generalitat of Catalonia, José Montilla Aguilera, an event included in the programme of the visit he is carrying out to this Spanish Autonomous Community.

After being welcomed by courtesy ranks formed by the Barcelona “Mossos d'Esquadra”, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva heard the National Anthem played by the chimes of the Palace of the Generalitat.

After the end of the meeting, the President of the Generalitat and his Wife hosted, in the San Jordi Hall, a dinner in the honour of the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva.

When dinner began, President Cavaco Silva toasted his hosts after addressing a brief speech.
