The President of the Republic was welcomed in the Madeira Parliament where the Speaker of this regional body, Dr. Miguel Mendonça, and his wife, hosted a dinner in his honour and that of Mrs. Cavaco Silva. 

President Cavaco Silva addressed a speech at the beginning of the dinner, which included as guests Members of the Madeira Parliament and several authorities of the Autonomous Region.
